New York State, in its seemingly never ending quest to emulate California, has arguably reached a new low. In addition to having a Governor suspected by many of numerous criminal acts, the Manhattan district attorney has announced in today's press release that he has decided to no longer prosecute prostitution and unlicensed massage cases effectively decriminalizing same.
In part, the Manhattan district attorney justified his actions by stating that prosecuting prostitution "does not make us safer" and that his decision would put an end to "decades of discriminatory enforcement unfairly targeting members of the LGBTQ+ community." Opponents argue that this decriminalization is reckless, inherently unsafe and opens the flood gates to human and child sex trafficking, far exceeding the increase resulting from recent changes in our border policies.
This announcement, coupled with skyrocketing crime rates and the infamous alleged "Bail Reform" which has freed innumerable would be criminals, is perhaps why New Yorkers are bailing out of New York State faster than rats from a sinking ship. The once great state of New York, now appears to have become a cautionary tale for the country. The state slogan "I Love New York," perhaps has more accurately changed to "I'm Leaving New York."
New York State's elected officials appear to be well on their way to achieving the goal of some to abolish the police and let mob rule prevail. The only problem is, the people who these officials were elected to represent, overwhelmingly do not agree and do not want to live like Mad Max in the Thunderdome.
