One year ago on May 30, 2018, Scales of Justice published an article entitled It's Legal and It Can Destroy Your Health. The article detailed some of the health dangers associated with ingredients of e-cigarettes such as nicotine, formaldehyde and diacetyl. If the potential ill effects of these ingredients weren't bad enough, recent studies have revealed additional serious health risks associated with vaping.
The Journal of the American College of Cardiology has revealed a newly discovered potential serious health risk associated with some of the flavorings in e-cigarettes. More specifically, some flavorings may increase the risk of heart disease and having a heart attack. The leading culprits have been found to be cinnamon and menthol flavorings.
This is significant because previously any heart risks associated with vaping, were thought to be far more benign such as palpitations. However, now recent studies connect vaping to heart disease, which is the number one killer in the United States. This new information should be of particular interest to those who have any family history of heart disease or heart attacks, as they are more susceptible and likely to have cardiovascular problems.
Although in general many still consider vaping to be less dangerous to your health than smoking regular cigarettes, perhaps it is just a matter of time before that belief is exposed as being misleading at best. Yes it is true that there are worse things one can smoke that are legal, but just because something is legal does not mean that one should do it. Choosing between regular cigarettes and e-cigarettes is like picking your own poison. Don't be fooled by such a false choice and choose health instead. Your family will thank you for it.
